Technical
Do I have to install Moodle myself?
No. The university’s information technology department (ITSS) has already installed Moodle. It’s ready for you to use. Moodle is jointly maintained by ITSS and the E-Learning Office (ELO).
How and when are Moodle course sites created?
Course shells are created by the IT department (ITSS). Moodle courses are available 8 weeks prior to the start of each semester. If you require earlier access to a course contact the E-Learning Office for Moodle support.
Can I customise a theme and make it about the University?
No. The theme is already pre-set for you by the school’s IT department (ITSS).
Does it matter what computer type or browser I use for Moodle?
Moodle works well in all standard, modern browsers and different operating systems. As with any web based application, you should be aware of your audience, their typical bandwidth and web browsers.
Can you use Moodle from anywhere?
Yes, if you are connected to the internet and you have a computer, mobile device or tablet.
Can access to Moodle be restricted to just our school?
Yes, Moodle is only for UPEI faculty, staff, and students.
Can I access Moodle from a mobile device?
You can access Moodle from a mobile device but it will not be optimized for mobile viewing. There is a Mobile Moodle that has been planned for and is currently in the works.
I've come from a school that used a different VLE/LMS. Can I move my stuff over to Moodle?
Sure. Some VLE/LMS-specific activities may (not) be compatible, but you can zip your content files and unzip them in Moodle as long as they are in Common Cartridge or SCORM formats. If you need help with this please contact the E-Learning Office (ELO).
I spotted a bug in the system. What do I do?
Please send an email to the E-Learning Office (ELO) and provide information about the bug and the platform where the bug has occurred.
I have an idea for a feature and/or improvement in Moodle. What do I do?
Send your idea or suggestion to the E-Learning Office (ELO).
If you know of a specific Moodle plug-in that you would like to see added please enter it here.
